Prisoners Arriving

Posted on Sun Sep 26th, 2021 @ 1:17pm by Lieutenant JG Lars Gunnarson & Lieutenant Commander Naois Mercy & Lieutenant Thetteth Sh'zorrerh & Lieutenant Sharl Ra'ito

Mission: Mission 2: Pied Piper
Location: Prison Pod Surveillance Suite
Timeline: 23rd November, 2375 - 1430 Hours

Lars Gunnarson sat at the main monitoring station in the newly installed Prison Pod Surveillance Suite. The room had been designed so that every inch of the prison pod could be kept an eye on without actually having to go in the Prison Pod itself. This kept the crew and prisoners apart. It would be fully manned by security personnel around the clock until the prisoners had been passed over to the Dominion.

The Security officers eyes narrowed and he could feel himself begin to tense up the moment he saw the first group of Jem'Hadar transport aboard.

He heard the door open behind him and he saw Lieutenant's Sh'zorrerh and Ra'ito enter.

Thett stepped up to the screens, watching the prisoners arrive. She didn't have to look at Gunnarson to aknowledge him. "How are we holding up?"

"So far, so good, I suppose." Lars replied watching his monitor intently. "So far 50 Jem'Hadar have been beamed across. All have been scanned to make sure they're not hiding weapons or anything they shouldn't be. All have been cleared and had their identities verified."

"Excellent. Pray the rest of the transfer goes as smoothly." She crossed her arms and scrutinized the faces of the prisoners as they came in.

An alarm sounded on Lars console, "Seems like one of the identification scanners has gone down. That's going to slow us down."

Sharl stepped up to the console next to Lars. "The connection between the scanner and suppressor has been lost. I am attempting to reroute the data stream through the secondary ODN Network." He said as his fingers moved across the control surface of the console. "The sensor is back up. I will schedule a repair team to see to the issue once the prisoner transfer had been completed."

Lars watched his screen as the sensor turned green. He nodded, "That's done it. Last thing we needed was restless Jem'Hadar." He commented.

"The last thing we need is a restless Vorta." Thett amended.

"The last thing we need is another unexpected equipment malfunction. We don't need the Jem'Hadar or a Vorta roaming around unsecured. " Sharl added.

"This prison pod seems like a good idea from a security point of view but I just don't like not being able to keep actual eyes on them. Monitors can only see so much, there are a couple of dark areas where we just can't see." Gunnarson said.

"It's safer from an escape standpoint, as they can't enter the ship even if they enter their access shafts, but it is disconcerting." Thett frowned.

"There is always a downside to any plan, weaknesses to any design. Lets just hope we have identified them all." Sharl said.

"I still don't understand why they couldn't continue the journey on the prison transport. Makes sense and saves us the bother." Lars commented.

"Probably because of security concerns," Naois answered as he joined the small group of security officers, "we are far better equipped to guard them than a civilian transport."

Lars tensed up a little when he heard the first officers voice. "My apologies, sir. I meant no disrespect, but keep transferring them from place to place is in itself a security risk."

"I understand, and I agree with you. However we have our orders so we make this transition as safe as possible, for us as well as for them." He paused. "Those prisoners will be treated with the respect we afford any prisoner, regardless of who they are or what they have done, is that clear?" A second pause. "Additionally... if Commander Dory shows up, he is not to be allowed in without the clearance of either myself, or Captain Fredriks. He is not allowed to be anywhere near the pod without either of our presence."

"Clear as the ice of lake Reebaak, Commander." Thett nodded, already mentally drafting the security notice about Commander Dory, "There is only this and one more transfer of custody to worry about, and we will have eyes on them at all hours. It is our responsibility to keep this journey safe, and I trust you can handle your portion of it, Gunnarson."

"Of course, Lieutenant. I don't like them being here but while they are here I'll be keeping my eyes on them with the rest of my team." Lars replied with a nod.

"Very well. Inform me of any and all changes in their status, or when Commander Dory attempts to gain access to them, or to any security systems." Giving them a final nod, the first officer walked away.
